Hiking from Baumgarten

A solid path with a breathtaking panoramic view leads up to Niedere Höhe (1711m). Arrived there, a path goes off to the left and brings you down to Vordere Niederealpe (restaurant). A nice walk back to the Mountain Station Baumgarten takes you about 20 minutes.

Sonderdach via Stongerhöhealpe

Elevation Gain/Loss: up 70m, down 500m

The highest point of this hike is Niedere Höhe (1711m), reachable from Baumgarten in approx. 20 minutes, which offers a spectacular view. The trail leads through a karst landscape down to Stongerhöhealpe (1644m) and finally, reaches Wildmoosalpe (1385m). This area is characterized by marshlands, evolved on the particularly clay soil. A comfortable path takes you to the Middle Station Sonderdach.

Winterstaude – Sonderdach
Blue level (steep alpine path)
Hiking time 3 ¾ hours
Elevation Gain/Loss: up 320m, down 730m

On the trail from Niedere Höhe to Stongerhöhealpe, you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views. Arrived there, you have to overcome a steep ascent to reach the Stongerhöhe. An alpine path leads across the “Hasenstrick“ (head for heights required!) to the top of the mountain Winterstaude (1877 m). On your descent hike, you pass Lingenaueralpe and Stongealpe (1410m). Past Stonger Moos, you reach Wildmoosalpe and finally, you arrive at the Middle Station Sonderdach (1210m).
